The M/V Coral Star is proud to offer one of the most exciting
fishing adventures in the Western Hemisphere. Hannibal Bank and the fishing
grounds of the Gulf of Chiriqui are located in the pacific waters of Panama. This
is an area that is renowned for its outstanding Blue and Black Marlin fishing.
I've caught and released more species of fish in Panama
waters than anywhere else in the world. Here is what I have experienced during my
trips to Panama. There have been giant schools of bright yellow and green Mahi-mahi
with some fish weighing over 50 pounds. I've had 15 to 20 sailfish shots a day,
actually landing 6 fish. But the most exciting challenge is casting to a 450 pound
Black Marlin. I have had the good fortune to cast to not only one, but 7 Black Marlin
in a day! The only problem is that each fish was over 400 pounds and I lost them
all! Sooner or later I will hook the right one.
Here are some more species that I have landed on a daily trip. There are big rod-bending
Yellowfin Tuna, as big as you think you can handle. I had to break off more tuna
in one day, than most people ever see. The Bluffing Trevally tops the list when
it comes to inshore, with fish up to 20 pounds. I've had Roosterfish with a weight
of 50 pounds and all kinds of Snappers and Jacks. At times I have even cast at large
schools of Barracuda. So you can see that in Panama it's not the casting that is
going to tire you out, it's the CATCHING!
